Essex Roads Go-Ride Winter Series 2019

Race Report – Round 2 – 10.02.2019

69 riders were met with a cold and rainy day for round 2 of the 2019 Essex Roads CC Winter Series at Redbridge
Cycling Centre. The temperature once again hovered around the 4-6 degrees region but with a cold breeze the
temperature felt much colder at times, the riders were going to have to work extra hard to keep warm and bring
their leg muscles up to temperature to ensure a fast and effective start from the get go!!

Starting off the proceedings were the Under 8s, determined as ever and not put off in the slightest with the dark and
gloomy weather. 18 riders were quick to get away in their 1 x lap dash which includes a small incline before turning
right towards the finish line with a tailwind in their favour. In the boys race Emanuel Bujdei (Barking & Dagenham
CC) once again got off to a flying start taking the honours and pushing clear of 2nd place rider Harry Adshead (Redhill
Raiders) who improved on his previous 3rd place finish in round 1. Newcomer James Clarke (Colchester Rovers CC)
rounded off the podium positions for the U8 boys. Our very own Aldric wells picked up the award for the 1st ERCC
rider over the finish line once again, a great effort Aldric. In the girls’ races and another newcomer to this series
Emma Knox (Verulam CC) took and excellent and well deserved win. Round 1 winner Aurelia Skinner (Little
Wheelers) finished in joint 2nd place with our very own Esther Luton (ERCC) and rounding off the podium with joint
3rd placings were our very own Lily Jago (ERCC) and Leonie Fairhead (Little Wheelers), excellent results by all the
riders, well done everyone. We have some special mentions and a huge respect again to the under 6 riders,
particularly with the conditions being as testing as they were but once again we had lots of happy, smiley faces! Well
done to Leonie Fairhead (Little Wheelers), Albert Bujdei (Barking & Dagenham CC) and last but certainly not least
was Laurence Gordon (Colchester Rovers).

In the Under 10 girls, Erica Dodsworth (Maldon & District CC) took the win and top step of the podium improving on
her 2nd place position at the last round, well done Erica. Caela McMorris (Little Wheelers) had an excellent day’s
racing with a well-deserved 2nd place, again improving on her 3rd place from the from previous round and rounding
off the podium in a fantastic 3rd place was Louis Rogerson (LVYCC) in her very first race of the series, well done girls.
In the boy’s racing David Bujdei (Barking & Dagenham CC) continued the family winning streak and repeating his
excellent performance at our last round taking 1st place in both his races, a superb effort and very well done once
again David. Austin Skinner (Little Wheelers) a regular podium finisher at these events took a well earnt 2nd place in
his first year as U10 cat rider, improving on his 3rd place at the last round. 3rd place finisher was William Hughes
(LVYCC) who has been consistent in the series so far also finishing 3rd place in our last round. First ERCC rider over
the line was once again Arnu Wells with Henry Jago coming in closely behind for 2nd ERCC rider overall and another
newcomer to the series Miles Sinclair our 3rd place ERCC rider over the line, great results from you all.

In the U12 boys Lochlan Dyer (LVYCC) took the double with a commanding performance making him unbeaten in the
series so far. Again with an equally impressive ride team mates William Barlow (LVYCC) took 2nd place, and Thomas
Wood (LVYCC) taking joint 3rd place with newcomer Thomas Lewis (Ely & District CC) well done lads, awesome
racing! In the girls races newcomer Millie Dean (Wigmore CC) had a fantastic race taking the top step of the podium
and a well-deserved 1st place in her first outing with Martha Walker (LVYCC) finishing in 2nd place improving on her
previous 3rd place position and rounding off the podium with a fine 3rd place was Sophie Potter (Barking & Dagenham
CC) excellent results all round from everyone!

The U14’s & U16’s joined forces to race together once again which included a short sharp climb (part of the
infamous Hoggenburg) testing their legs to see if their winter training had paid dividends. In the U14’s girls race we
had 2 x team mates racing for the top step of the podium. Naomi Perry (LVYCC) took a superb overall win with her
team mate Aimee O’Sullivan (LVYCC) in 2nd place. In the U14’s boy’s race and with an outstanding performance we
had joint podium winner’s team mates Benedict Walker and Tom Wood (Both LVYCC). Finishing in second place
overall was Frederick Barlow (LVYCC) another awesome ride and rounding off the podium finishing 3rd in both his
races was James Robinson (LVYCC), well done guy’s and girl’s great results from all of you. Our only U16 competitor
was once again mixing it up with the U14 riders in commanding style. Our very own Connor Stevens (ERCC) rode
superbly throughout and has proved once again he has the potential to become a superb and fast bike rider, keep up
the great work Connor and well done on your win.

A huge congratulations to all riders, especially those who were racing here for the first time, we hope you enjoyed it!
