Essex Roads Go-Ride Winter Series 2019
Race Report – Round 3 – 03.03.2019
60 riders were met with another cold, rainy and windy day for round 3 of the 2019 Essex Roads CC Winter Series at Redbridge Cycling Centre. The temperature was around the 8-9 degrees region but the cold blustery winds made the temperature feel much colder throughout the racing, the riders were going to have to work extra hard once again to keep warm and bring their leg muscles up to temperature to ensure a fast and effective start from the get go!!
The Under 8s, determined as ever set off the day’s racing once again and not put off in the slightest with the windy, rainy and gloomy weather. 15 riders were quick to get away in their 1 x lap dash which includes a small incline with a downhill finish. In the U8 boys race Emanuel Bujdei (Barking & Dagenham CC) got off to a flying start taking the honours once again with James Clarke (Colchester Rovers CC) in joint 2nd place with Harry Limn (Unattached) and Will Wood (LVYCC) taking 3rd place. Our very own Aldric Wells picked up the award once again for the 1st ERCC rider over the finish line. In the girls’ races and newcomer to this series at round 2 Emma Knox (Verulam CC) took and excellent and well deserved win, well done Emma. Another newcomer Ellie Whittle (Little Wheelers) took a superb 2nd place and team mate Aurelia Skinner (Little Wheelers) rounded off the podium with a great 3rd place. Again we have some special mentions and a huge respect again to the under 6 riders, particularly with the conditions being as testing as they were but once again we had lots of happy, smiley faces! Well done to Edward Cordery & Ruby Cordery (Basildon Timber).
In the Under 10 girls, Hardjev Mamouze (Barking & Dagenham CC) had a great day at the races winning both races in the female category. Erica Dodsworth (Maldon & District CC) took an excellent 2nd place position and Caela McMorris (Little Wheelers) rounding off the podium in a fantastic 3rd place. In the boy’s racing David Bujdei (Barking & Dagenham CC) continued the family winning streak once again with a fantastic performance taking 1st place in both his races, a superb effort and very well done once again David. Alrik Knox (Verulam CC) came back with a bang finishing in 2nd place and much better luck compared to his last round where he unfortunately crashed out of the day’s racing. 3rd place finisher was William Hughes (LVYCC) who has been consistent in the series so far also finishing 3rd place in the two previous rounds. First ERCC rider over the line was once again Arnu Wells with Miles Sinclair our 2nd place ERCC rider over the line.
In the U12 boys Lochlan Dyer (LVYCC) once again did the double with a commanding performance making him unbeaten in the series so far. And again with equally impressive rides team mates William Barlow (LVYCC) took 2nd place, and Thomas Wood (LVYCC) taking 3rd place well done again lads, awesome racing! In the girls races Martha Walker (LVYCC) once again improved on her last outing finishing in a fantastic 1st place. Olivia Hoskins (Barking & Dagenham CC) took a great 2nd place and rounding off the podium once again with a fine 3rd place was Sophie Potter (Barking & Dagenham CC) excellent results all round from everyone!
The U14’s & U16’s joined forces to race together once again which included a short sharp climb (part of the infamous Hoggenburg) testing their legs to see if their winter training had paid dividends. In the U14’s girls race we had 2 x team mates racing for the top step of the podium. Naomi Perry (LVYCC) took a superb overall win once again, well done Nyomi. Her team mate Aimee O’Sullivan (LVYCC) finished in an excellent 2nd place. In the U14’s boy’s race and with outstanding performances we had Benedict Walker (LVYCC) taking the top step of the podium with team mates Frederick Barlow (LVYCC) and James Robinson (LVYCC) finishing in joint 2nd place and rounding off the podium finishing in 3rd was our very own James Wicks (ERCC) who is now starting to show some excellent performances, well done guy’s and girl’s great results from all of you. In our U16’s racing and again mixing it up with the U14 riders we had two of our very own riders taking part, once again Connor Stevens (ERCC) taking 1st place and Anna Scannell taking 1st place, great riding by all.
