We are again running our Under 16’s Winter Racing Series at Redbridge Closed Road Circuit on the lower circuit. Events will be held on 19th January, 23rd February, 29th March and 19th April 2020

This series is designed to be an entry level event for riders who have little or no experience of racing (and for their parents who have never prepared a young rider for an event before!) We do not carry out gear checks, and although there will be riders wearing ‘proper kit’ and riding road bikes, you do not need any special gear -all you need is for your bike to be in good working condition and safe to ride, and to wear appropriate clothing and a helmet which is also safe. We encourage you to ‘have a go’ and award separate certificates for those riding non-road bikes as we appreciate you have to work a lot harder to get round the track than those who have sleek road machines!

Signing on is from 12.15pm, racing starts prompt at 1.15pm, finishing at about 3pm, with presentations back up at HQ afterwards.

Boys and girls will race together in their age categories (U8, U10, U12, U14, U16) but there will be separate awards. If there are sufficient numbers, there may be separate girls’ / boys’ races.

All riders will be eligible for the series Points Competition (best three results to count).

Pre-entries need to be with me by the Thursday before the race. Entries in ADVANCE ONLY via BC website:

Hi, I have just received an email to say my son’s entry application for the U10s go ride race on 19th April has been denied but with no explanation. Is it because the race is not now going ahead (understandably) or something else? Please advise. Many thanks.

Hi Clara, Yes sorry about this, British Cycling have cancelled all events until the end of April due to the Coronavirius which effects both of our events for the this series. Naturally we are hoping to have some new dates to run the 2 x events, however we can’t book anything currently until things get back to some sort of normality.

      Best Regards

      Dave
