Race Report for Round 1 held on 11th June
On a weekend busy with other cycling events 22 riders had a warm, if breezy, afternoon’s racing on the lower circuit at Redbridge. The largest field was the Under 8s, with 14 riders battling it out for the honours. Austin Skinner (Little Wheelers) was the clear winner with Thomas Stock (LVYCC) placing 2nd in his first race and Toby Lashmar (ERCC) coming in as 3rd road bike. The non-road bike awards went to a trio of Essex Roads boys; 1st Arnu Wells, 2nd Ethan Williams and 3rd Nathan Brown. The girls’ awards went to Sophie Cummings (1st) and Amelie Fairhead (2nd) from Little Wheelers, and huge respect to the two Under 6 riders who completed both races with smiles on their faces! It’s a very long way for such little legs! Well done Aldric Wells from ERCC (1st) and Jack Armbruster from Little Wheelers (2nd).
In the Under 10s, Olivia Hoskins (B&DCC) was 1st girl, with Charlotte Aris (Little Wheelers) in 2nd place. Jamie Cox (Little Wheelers) was 1st boy.
Due to low numbers, the Under 12s, 14s and 16 raced together and decided they all wanted to race the Under 16s distance of 4 laps. Damian Dodd (B&DCC) stormed the Under 14s, with Harry Jey (Harris Academy) in 2nd place and Amy Harvey (B&DCC) as 1st girl. Lewis Kemp (ERCC) was 1st Under 16.
Well done to all riders, especially those who were racing for the first time today -we hope you enjoyed it!
