The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity provided Essex Roads with a welcomed opportunity to have a marquee pitch at the Ride For Helen Charity Ride on 15 May to advertise the Club’s activities.
The annual bike ride, hosted at The Crix in Hatfield Peverel, is now in its ninth year and has become a favourite on the Essex cycling calendar. The Charity welcomed riders of all ages and abilities, with a choice of cycling routes; 6 miles, 15 miles, 30 miles, 50 miles and 65 miles and is estimated to have raised over £36,000 from the event! Full report can be found here: Helen Rollason Cancer Charity
About 30 riders from Essex Roads took part in the 50 and 65 mile rides.
The marquee was manned by committee members Helen Spraggins and John Simpson who distributed business cards and fielded many enquiries from cyclists about our Sunday rides and particularly our forthcoming women-only social ride group. Our team explained the many benefits of joining a cycling club including sporting, social and health.
The Club is grateful to Spokes Cycle Care & Repair, who have been attending the event since it’s inception, for their generous help in erecting the marquee which proved to be somewhat problematic..
The Helen Rollason Charity have been very appreciative of the Club’s support of the event and have asked for ideas for refreshing the routes for next years’ ride.
If you are a cyclist reading this, and are interested in taking part in one of our Sunday Rides without commitment please email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
